Wendy Kirkland Trio

Recognition of Wendy Kirkland’s abilities as a jazz pianist and singer has grown steadily on the UK jazz scene since the mid-noughties, culminating in the release of her albums Piano Divas (2017) and The Music’s on Me (2019). Her ability to sing at the same time as comping and to craft unison piano/scat lines is one of her best-loved and unique trademark signatures. For her concert today Wendy will be featuring selections from her albums which (in the case of Piano Divas) paid musical salutes to songs inspired by fellow-performers including Diana Krall, Shirley Horne, Eliane Elias, Tania Maria and Blossom Dearie. Her follow-up, two years later, was dubbed 'a huge leap forward' (Jazz Views) leading to ACE-funded tours throughout the UK and constant radio play ever since.
