Let's Improvise: Bringing Jazz to Southend's Primary Schools

In an exciting initiative to expand music education for primary school children in Southend-on-Sea, The Jazz Centre UK (TJCUK) is teaming up with two leading music organizations: Music on Sea and Rhythm Connections. "Let's Improvise," will provide jazz workshops and performance opportunities to twelve primary schools. The program is set to run until the end of March 2026, covering the first two terms of the current school year.

Objectives and Workshop Structure

Goals of the "Let's Improvise" Project

The primary aim of "Let's Improvise" is to engage Southend's young minds in music-making that emphasizes spontaneous creativity—an essential feature of jazz music. This initiative aligns with Music on Sea's commitment to providing exceptional musical opportunities to children and young people.

The workshops are designed to be interactive and enjoyable, enhancing curriculum-based music education through improvisation.
