PAST EVENTS
Due to popular demand, we have included the below list of current and past events! This list does not show every single event that has occurred at the Centre; only those that have been advertised on our website. This is as some of our events are exclusively advertised within the Centre, on our mailing list, by invitation or the event may have occurred before the launch of this website 01/05/2018. If you would like to request information about any of our past events whether on the list or not please contact us and one of our friendly volunteers will be able to assist.
We have also run some fantastic events outside The Jazz Centre... read more

Listen In: Jazz as soundtrack Part One | This might need a couple of sessions but there’s no shortage of material. Obviously, Miles Davis’ Ascenseur Pour l’echafaud might be included as may Sonny Rollins’ Alfie. Listen In: Joe Harriott | Maybe, if Joe Harriott had turned west towards America rather than east to the UK his career might have been different. Listen In: Herbie Mann | This may surprise some at the JC and depending on your point-of-view Herbie Mann was either trying things that others were not OR he was cashing in on whatever trend was current at the time. Personally, Memphis Underground sounds to me a bit like the Velvet Underground meets Sun Ra. Not bad!!!! | 18/02/2022 | Southend-on-Sea |
