About the Event
A new project led by Trevor Taylor, 'Across the Great Divide' explores the musical areas where straight composition and improvisation overlap. Twenty musicians, mainly from the South East, and from classical and jazz backgrounds, form Ensemble Now!  and will perform Terry Riley's minimalist classic In C, alongside a recent work from Trevor himself, Strophe, John Cage's Variation 111 and Karlheinz Stockhausen's Intensity. These works take very different approaches, but have in common  unconventional methods of notation which allow a great deal of freedom of choice for the musicians involved. The band includes Trevor and Carol Taylor, Zak Barrett, Bryan Styles, John Smith, Lorraine Migliorini, Martin Hathaway, Shanti Jayasinha, Sam Hollis, Dave Jago, Suzzie Hooder-Williams, Chris Caldwell, Dave Jago, Raffael Bizzoca, Phillip Wachsman, and Keith Buckingham, with vocal contributor Adrian Green.
