About the Event

Scott Joplin composed over 40 Ragtime pieces, including some of the popular and most performed ever. His classic Maple Leaf Rag became a huge sheet music hit. His 1902 composition The Entertainer became internationally known when used as the theme tune for the hit film The Sting. A specialist in early musical styles, Adam Ramet, will again launch The Jazz Centre's yearly programme of live music performing a range of Joplin compositions.

Prior to the afternoon gig the biopic Scott Joplin by director Jeremy Kagan, and starring Billy Dee Williams as Joplin, will be screened in our Media Room. 12 noon, entrance free.
