Etta James And the Roots Band: Burnin' Down the House
Blues songstress Etta James and backing band, The Roots Band, live in 2001. With her long-time backing band, The Roots Band, the performance showcases her ability to take on any genre and conquer it, from sultry jazz, to rock, to funk, and deep blues. Worth seeing just to hear her original version of I’d Rather Go Blind.
Live Music: Dawnette Fessey ‘No Good Woman’ and the Kingsnakes
2 PM - 4 PM
A five-piece Blues Band from Southend-on-Sea, playing Blues from the Delta to Chicago, Bessie to BB King, old and new, sassy and swinging, hot and heavenly. The Kingsnakes are renowned for their high energy performances, with Dawnette Fessey at the helm. She explains her alter-ego and stage moniker : “ a ‘No Good Woman’ paying homage to all those women who 1) lived their lives before me 2) stand strong in present times 3) are yet to take their place in this journey. So, when you come to hear me sing my song . . . you better be ready!"
