About the Event
Tenor player Harry Brunt visited us last year as part of the Howl Quartet, a band who impressed us all here: far from howling, their music was particularly intelligent, measured and intricate, working with two tenors, bass and drums, without a chord playing instrument.
Harry returns today with a more conventional line-up. Billy Marrows, on guitar, is noted as a bandleader and composer in his own right, touring and recording with his Grande Familia project. Rod Oughton, on drums, is similarly a bandleader himself, leading his Tomorrow's New Quartet and composing for it. Brilliant young bassist Flo Moore, heard at the JCUK in the demanding context of Zoe Rahman's trio, completes the group.
We are very pleased to welcome to the JCUK this outstanding group of young British jazz talent.
