Jazz 825: Amalgam

Amalgam are Laurence Harper (tpt, flugelhorn), Dave Lee (keys), Dave Whiting (guitar), Jason Nichols (bass), and Trevor Taylor (drums).

They are perhaps the most original group to emerge from Southend's Jazz 825 scene, having started with a repertoire drawn from contemporary jazz stars like Pat Metheny and Mathias Eick, but now performing a largely original set, much of which comes from the inventive pen of keyboard player Dave Lee. This is melodic, emotional contemporary jazz, which creates a compelling atmosphere and soundscape.
