About the Event
Amalgam are Laurence Harper (tpt, flugelhorn), Dave Lee (keys), Dave Whiting (guitar), Jason Nichols (bass), and Trevor Taylor (drums).
They emerged from Southend's Jazz 825 scene, combining material from contemporary jazz stars like Pat Metheny and Mathias Eick, with striking original compositions, many of which come from the inventive pen of keyboard player Dave Lee. This is melodic, emotional contemporary jazz, which creates a compelling atmosphere and soundscape.
