About the Event
The ECM (Edition of Contemporary Music) record label was founded in Munich in 1969. It has become the most influential European jazz record label, having now issued nearly 3000 recordings (though the catalogue now encompasses classical and world music, and many cross-genre projects). ECM has developed a distinctive aesthetic, in its visual style and in the exacting production values of its leading light, Manfred Eicher.
Today's quintet, drawn from the Jazz 825 collective, will celebrate ECM's achievement, playing compositions by some of the leading artists who have recorded for the label, including John Surman, Enrico Rave, Jan Garbarek, Keith Jarrett, Carla Bley and Tomasz Stanko.
Ted Porter: trumpet, flugelhorn
Zak Barrett: tenor saxophone, bass clarinet
Dan Banks: piano
Alex Keen: bass
