About the Event
Radiohead started the trend: they produced jazz using machine-created sound, which sold well on CD. But then they had to reverse-engineer the music to appear on tour. By 2020, machines are used to create coordinated experiences, involving acoustic and electronic sounds, colours and atavar or physical movement. A new world of possibilities beckons. Jacob Collier has shown one way, and Quincy Jones, joined by Herbie Hancock, has joined in encouraging development. According to Jones, new musical notes have become accessible. Whre will jazz go next?
