About the Event

Chelmsford -based poet, composer and singer Shephali Frost and Scots writer and musician Peter Urpeth team up with the Jazz 825 collective for an afternoon of poetry and jazz. Indo-British Shephali Frost performs her own original verse in modern English, and delves into her own ancestral poetic tradition. She is a trained singer in Indian classical style and her work combines powerfully with the jazz idiom, represented by the creative improvisers accompanying her today.

Peter Urpeth -writer, poet, composer, improviser- travels from the Hebrides to perform his '4000 nights of New York in 1988' project.

On the musical side, Jazz 825 stalwarts Trevor Taylor (drums) and Zak Barrett (saxophone) are joined by Phil Wachsmann (violin), and Mark Hewins (guitar) from Spain!
