Bob has been playing in jazz bands since the 1950s. Seventeen years with Steve Lane’s Southern Stompers and Red Hot Peppers prepared him for leading his own bands. In 1988 he formed Bob Dwyer’s Hot Six, augmented in 1998 as the Hot Seven. In 2011 the band's title changed to Bob Dwyer's Bix and Pieces. It is recognised now as one of London’s most versatile swinging traditional jazz bands. Their repertoire starts with Bix, but also features rhythm ’n’ blues, spirituals and gospel numbers, and evocative tunes from the golden era of jazz right from its early days, including songs by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Walter Donaldson.
