About the Event
The Jazz Centre UK is very proud to have appointed its first permanent artist-in-residence, Lancashire-born Kay Whittaker.
Kay specialises in figurative art, particularly performance artists, working in acrylic and watercolour from live subjects and photographs. Kay says: “I have a great love of the performing arts and jazz music in particular. I have been privileged to portray some of the greatest names over the years, including Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Kenny Baker, Nat Gonella . . . . I could go on. Art is my life, and painting portraits in all their forms brings me great joy.”
Her permanent exhibition opened at the Jazz Centre on Saturday, 4 May 2019. All of the works on display are available for sale. Look out for our newsletter 3 of 2019 in July for a special feature about Kay's work.
