This may surprise some at the JC and depending on your point-of-view Herbie Mann was either trying things that others were not OR he was cashing in on whatever trend was current at the time. Personally, Memphis Underground sounds to me a bit like the Velvet Underground meets Sun Ra. Not bad!!!!
