About the Event

Multi British Jazz Award winner, trumpeter Bruce Adams began his career in Scotland in the early 1980s working with Americans including Dick Hyman and Benny Carter, and was also Musical Director for comedian Freddy Starr for three years before moving to London in 1989 to freelance. Thereafter he worked as an in-demand soloist (notably with Pete Long’s ‘Echoes of Ellington’ orchestra) and from 1992 formed a poll winning quintet with saxophonist-composer Alan Barnes; a partnership which continues today.

When not working with Alan, Bruce’s other regular partners have included singers Elaine Delmar and Val Wiseman and as a soloist he leads his own quartet for jazz festivals all over the UK. Most recently, to brilliant reviews, he has produced two duo albums with piano and today will be playing songs from these and more great jazz trumpet standards in the company of award-winning pianist Dave Newton, making a welcome return to The Jazz Centre UK after his recent appearance with Alan Barnes.
