Music Maestro Please: The Sequel

The talk called “Music Maestro Please - the Sequel” will take the form of a virtual tour of London, identifying the locations (mainly hotels, restaurants and night clubs) where the Great British Dance Bands played.

This will be an “indoor” version of the famous dance band walking tours conducted by Memory Lane magazine. We will start off by covering how the bands evolved and then embark on our tour starting at the Strand and discussing one of the major dance band venues, the Savoy Hotel and the many bands which played there.

We will progress along the Strand and into Covent Garden and reach Leicester Square where we will cover a most famous club, The Café de Paris (photo above) among others.
