About the Event
Steven Nichols is a jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist and composer and is currently in his fourth year at the Royal Academy of Music. He has studied under some of Europe’s most acclaimed jazz musicians and is heavily influenced by British folk and Romantic Classical music as well as the ever-evolving world of Jazz and its history.
The Steven Nichols Quintet is formed from some of the most exciting young musicians on the London scene today; including Charlie Rees (sax), (BBC Young Jazz Musician 2020 Semi-Finalist) and 2018 finalist Reuben Goldmark
(piano) backed by the incredible sounds of Toby Yapp on Bass and Jonah Evans on Drums
This breathtaking quintet showcases many compositions by both Steven and Charlie, but expect to witness a youthful approach to the eclectic array of more traditional jazz compositions from icons such as Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett and Kenny Wheeler.
