Spike's Place presents the Mick Foster Quartet

Mick has a rich, refined sound on baritone sax, his main instrument. His improvisational skill has been described as ‘crafted and deeply melodic’ which perfectly describes the style of the regular quartet; playing an attractive mix of jazz standards and Mick’s melodic original compositions.

“I do a big range of jazz playing from small group playing, which I do on all the saxophones but I mainly play baritone and alto sax in that sort of context, sometimes soprano; and I play in big bands, I do show playing, the small band things I do range from my original compositions, jazz standards - transcriptions of sort of West Coast Gerry Mulligan type things – a big mixture”.
