The Alan Clarke Trio

Druimmer Alan Clarke, nowadays a beloved local figure on Southend's jazz scene, has nevertheless enjoyed a fifty-year career in a huge variety of national professional situations; touring with American rock icons including Glen Campbell and the Platters, powering the rhythm sections for West End shows including 'Cliff- The Musical' and the award-winning 'Jolson' (starring Brian Conley and directed by his longtime friend Tim Huskisson) and also working with all the greatest names in British jazz (including a musical partnership with his old friend Digby Fairweather stretching back to 1965!). Today Alan brings his brand-new Trio to the Jazz Centre UK headed by another longtime partner, pianist TED BEAMENT; for years a regular musical partner for tenorist Simon Spillett and Humphrey Lyttelton whose band he joined from 1995. With Jerome Davies (double bass), Alan's trio promises an ambitious programme of material including a nod to one of British jazz's greatest icons, the late Stan Tracey!
