About the Event
Formed in 1989 The Jive Aces were described by Vintage Rock magazine as "the UK's number one jive and swing band." The Jive Jazz style can be traced back to the 1930s and the music of Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan and Louis Prima. The Jive Aces have performed with Prima's legendary vocalist Keely Smith on a number of occasions in both the UK and the USA. Their first appearance at Ronnie Scott's club in 2011 sold out, as have all subsequent performances there. In their first gig at the Jazz Centre, expect an afternoon of high energy and irresistible swing.
From 12 noon in our Media Room we will screen film performances of Louis Prima and Cab Calloway to warm up for the main afternoon event.
Entrance for the films is free.
