About the Event

For our latest New Beginnings afternoon, where we introduce fresh talent on the scene, we present Immy Churchill, a jazz singer and singer-songwriter studying at The Royal Academy of Music. Her influences range from Ella Fitzgerald and Norma Winstone to James Taylor and Joni Mitchell, giving her a unique sound that embraces not only the lyrical quality of singing but the joys of singing wordlessly. Although she is already making her way onto the jazz scene as a vocalist, her individual voice as a songwriter is beginning to emerge and she looks forward to eventually releasing her debut album next year. Her writing influences range from Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Nick Drake and Madison Cunningham. She has performed at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Live, The Green Note, The King’s Place, The Royal Festival Hall and recently a sold out show of her own music at The Vortex.

Immy will be presenting Stories Through Song; an intimate afternoon of her original singer-songwriter material alongside her take on songs from great influences such as James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake and Madison Cunningham.

The afternoon will also feature a short interval set from local music students Millie and Ella, playing drums and bass.
