About the Event

The E17 Jazz Trio: Celebrate the Music of Dudley Moore

Saturday 21st October 2-4pm

Nick Tomalin - piano

Dave Manington - bass

Marek Dorcik  - drums.

Nick Tomalin is a jazz pianist and composer who has been working as a professional musician and educator for nearly 30 years. He studied jazz at Leeds College of Music and completed his post-graduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1994.

Dudley Moore was best known for his comic partnership with Peter Cook and his Hollywood film roles in movies such as 10 and Arthur, but his first love was music and particularly jazz. Dudley was a very accomplished jazz pianist who led a regular trio for many years, and he also wrote music for both his own films and other projects.

In this gig the E17 Jazz Trio will celebrate the music of Dudley Moore. We'll perform some of the music he wrote for the Beyond the Fringe show, as well as compositions he performed with his trio. We'll also play some of the music he composed for films including Bedazzled and 30 Is A Dangerous Age Cynthia. Other tunes we'll perform include Dudley Dell which became better known as the theme to Radio 4's Quote, Unquote and some of his favourite standards.
