At The Jazz Centre UK, we’re passionate about sharing the story of jazz, its rich history, vibrant present, and exciting future. One of the ways we do this is by attending music festivals across the UK, bringing our exhibitions, expertise, and enthusiasm to new audiences.
From our appearances at major events like the Love Supreme Festival, where we’ve hosted engaging displays (including helping to launch Jazzwise's 100 Jazz Albums that Shook the World Book) and conversations in the Charity Tent, to local celebrations in Southend-on-Sea, we love reaching jazz fans over-and-above the daily visitors at our national cultural centre in Essex. These festivals give us a chance to showcase rare memorabilia, highlight British jazz legends, and talk about the work we do year-round.
Remembering the Festivals We've Attended
We’ve had the pleasure of bringing The Jazz Centre UK to a variety of events, each with its own unique atmosphere and audience. Some highlights include:
Love Supreme Festival – one of the UK’s largest jazz, blues, and soul festivals, where we’ve proudly hosted a stand in the Charity Tent.
Village Green Festival – a vibrant arts and music event in Essex where we’ve connected with local audiences and celebrated jazz heritage.
Southend Jazz Festival – right on our doorstep, this event has allowed us to support local talent and engage with our community.
These appearances have helped us reach new audiences, share our collections, and promote jazz education beyond the walls of our centre.
We Need Your Help to Make It Happen
As a volunteer-led organisation, our ability to attend festivals depends on the support of people like you. From helping us set up and run our stalls, to sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with festival-goers, volunteers play a vital role in making these events a success.
If you’re passionate about jazz and want to help us take our work on the road, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you have a few hours to spare or want to get more involved, your support could make all the difference.
Where Should We Go Next?
Is there a jazz festival near you that we should attend? A music weekend that could benefit from a touch of jazz history? A cultural event where our presence could spark new interest?
